The Force Behind the Fencing

For over 30 years "Chaz" Neely
has not only been stretching the
countryside with quality fencing,
but also increasing opportunity
for agriculturally involved youth.
Neely has made goodwill a priority
in his personal and business life
through generous support to expand
youth scholarships for rurally based
families. As a leader in the agricultural
industry, Neely exhibits charitable
professionalism personally and
commercially. Even his employees
participate by dedicating their
personal time to various charitable
organizations.
Born and raised in San Antonio
on the Southside, Neely set
his sights on owning his own
business at an early age. It was
always a question of 'when' more
so than 'how' as his father had
grounded him with the principles
of hard work plus honest and
determination as the keys to
sucess. In 1979 "Chaz" Neely's
dream of owning his own business
came true when he purchased
San Antonio Steel Company, a
fourteen year old wholesale dis-
tribution company that focused
mainly on nails and wire. The
begining years were a struggle
as Neely balanced working a
full-time job as well as running his
own companyon his after
hours. His perserverance paid
off and eventually he was able
to leave his managerial job and
focus on his dream. Even though
the first decade was pitted with
econamic challenges by 1991
the company had grown
tremendously under the consistent
care of Neely and his dedicated
employees.
